Between 2009 and 2011, and then again in 2015, clusters of young people

dying by suicide hit Santa Clara County, California, particularly concerning

students at Palo Alto High School. With these multiple clusters of death by

suicide, the Santa Clara County Public Health Department asked the Centers

for Disease Control to investigate what's happening county-wide that could

be leading to spikes in suicidal ideation among young people. Now, the CDC

has finished up its investigation, and the results highlight exactly how

important making mental health services available is.
